Interview Copilot Pricing in India: Credits vs Subscriptions, in Rupees

What an interview copilot costs in India for a six-interview job hunt: MockMate credits vs USD subscriptions from Final Round, LockedIn and others, with GST.

Updated 8 min read

Ask "interview copilot India price" and you get two kinds of answers: dollar subscriptions that hide the rupee figure until checkout, and vague "affordable" claims on India landing pages. This article does the maths in rupees for a realistic job hunt, shows MockMate's real numbers next to verified competitor prices, and explains when prepaid credits beat a subscription and when they do not.

All competitor prices were checked on the vendors' own sites on 9 September 2026. Where a vendor did not publish a number, we say so instead of guessing. MockMate's prices are as of September 2026 and can change; the pricing page is the source of truth.

The two pricing models

Subscriptions. You pay a flat amount per month, quarter or year for a bundle of sessions or unlimited use. Final Round AI, Verve AI, LockedIn AI (Unlimited plan), Interview Sidekick, Beyz, interviews.chat and Parakeet all sell this way. The upside is predictability if you interview constantly. The downside is that you pay the same whether you had two interviews or twenty, and the subscription renews until you cancel.

Credits. You buy a block of minutes up front and spend them as you go. MockMate sells only credits. LockedIn AI and Parakeet also sell credit packs alongside subscriptions. The upside is that a quiet month costs nothing. The downside is that heavy users pay per hour with no unlimited option.

Most Indian job hunts are lumpy: a burst of rounds during campus season or a notice period, then silence. That shape favours credits, which is why the maths below starts there.

MockMate's numbers, exactly

As of September 2026:

PackPriceCreditsPrice per creditWith 18% GSTPer credit with GST
Starter₹2,0002₹1,000₹2,360₹1,180
Growth₹5,0005₹1,000₹5,900₹1,180
Pro₹10,00012₹833₹11,800₹983

How credits are consumed:

  • 1 credit is roughly 60 minutes of session time.
  • Usage is billed in 30-minute blocks of 0.5 credit.
  • There is a 10-minute grace window, so a session that runs to 40 minutes is billed as one 30-minute block, not two.
  • Practice and Live draw from the same balance.
  • Before any credits: eligible accounts get 3 free Practice starts and 3 free Live starts, each capped at 10 minutes, tracked per account so reinstalling does not reset them.
  • No subscription is required to buy credits. Payments are processed by Dodo Payments as merchant of record.

So a 25-minute HR screen costs 0.5 credit. A 45-minute technical round costs 1 credit. A 70-minute panel costs 1 credit if it ends within the grace window at 70 minutes, and 1.5 credits if it runs to 80.

A typical six-interview job hunt, in rupees

Take a common Indian pattern: a fresher or a two-year engineer with one target offer and a couple of backups. Over six weeks they face:

RoundTypical lengthCredits (30-min blocks, 10-min grace)
Recruiter or HR screen, company A20 min0.5
Technical round 1, company A45 min1.0
Technical round 2, company A60 min1.0
Managerial round, company A35 min0.5
Technical round, company B50 min1.0
HR round, company B30 min0.5
Total live minutes2404.5 credits

Now add preparation. Most people who use a copilot also run practice sessions; say four 30-minute Practice rounds (2 credits) beyond the free ones.

Total: 6.5 credits. The cheapest way to buy that from MockMate is one Growth pack (5 credits, ₹5,900 with GST) plus one Starter pack (2 credits, ₹2,360 with GST), which gives 7 credits for ₹8,260, or a single Pro pack (12 credits, ₹11,800 with GST) if you expect a second company to progress. Using only the free starts for practice and buying Growth alone covers the 4.5 live credits for ₹5,900.

Two things to notice. First, the free 3 Live starts of 10 minutes are not enough to run any real round; they are there to check audio, transcription and the answer style before you pay. Second, the maths only holds for rounds where assistance is permitted. Rounds that ban it should be done from Practice preparation, which costs credits only for the practice.

The same hunt on subscriptions (verified prices)

Six weeks of interviews usually spans two billing months. Here is what the same hunt costs on each subscription vendor, using the vendor's own published price and assuming two months of a monthly plan. Conversion uses an illustrative ₹84 per US dollar; your bank's rate and any foreign-transaction fee will differ, and none of these vendors' pages state Indian tax treatment.

interviews.chat$19/mo for 1,000 credits; $29/mo unlimited; $69/quarter unlimited$38 (Starter) or $58 (Booster)₹3,190 or ₹4,8701 credit = 1 minute or 1 suggestion; 30 free credits
Parakeet AI₹9,470/mo; ₹4,980/wk; ₹37,900/yr; credits ₹3,690 for 3, ₹7,380 for 8, ₹11,070 for 15₹18,940 for two months, or ₹7,380 for 8 creditsAlready INR0.5 credit = 30-minute session; 10-minute free session

Reading the table honestly:

  • interviews.chat is the cheapest subscription for a light hunt, at roughly ₹3,200 for two months of Starter, but its credits are consumed by suggestions as well as minutes, it is a browser tool, and it does not list Hindi.
  • MockMate at ₹5,900 to ₹8,260 sits between interviews.chat and LockedIn for this hunt, with no renewal to cancel and INR pricing with GST shown up front.
  • Parakeet's credit packs are the closest like-for-like comparison: 8 credits (16 half-hour sessions) for ₹7,380 versus MockMate's 7 credits (14 half-hour blocks) for ₹8,260 with GST. Parakeet's per-hour rate on that pack is lower; MockMate's difference is the 10-minute grace window, separate free Practice and Live starts, and Hinglish handling. Check both pages before deciding.
  • Final Round AI and Interview Sidekick are the expensive end for a short hunt because one requires an annual commitment for the published price and the other lists $80 per month.
  • Verve cannot be placed because the price did not render on its public page when we checked.

When a subscription is the better deal

Credits lose when usage is high and continuous. The break-even is easy to compute: MockMate's Pro pack is ₹983 per credit-hour including GST. Any flat plan that you use for more than its price divided by ₹983 hours per month is cheaper per hour than credits. For LockedIn at $39.99 (about ₹3,360), that is roughly 3.5 hours of live use per month. For Beyz's semi-annual rate ($24.99, about ₹2,100 per month), it is about 2.1 hours per month, but you pay six months up front.

So if you are in a long search, interviewing weekly, and also using the tool for daily practice, an unlimited plan can be the right call. If you are a fresher with one placement season, or an experienced engineer who interviews a few times a year, credits almost always cost less in total, and there is nothing to remember to cancel.

Hidden costs to check before paying in dollars

  • Currency conversion and card fees. A USD subscription is charged in dollars; Indian cards typically add a foreign-transaction markup. Ask your bank.
  • Auto-renewal. Every subscription above renews. interviews.chat and Interview Sidekick state cancel-anytime; Beyz says cancel anytime; Final Round AI's published price is annual.
  • Per-session caps. Verve caps sessions at 60 minutes (Standard) or 90 minutes (Pro). A long panel interview can hit that.
  • Feature gating by plan. Beyz's monthly plan excludes the coding assistant. interviews.chat's Starter plan counts suggestions as credits.
  • Trial reality. Final Round AI has no live trial. Interview Sidekick's free tier is a 2-minute test. MockMate's 10-minute starts exist to check audio and answer style, not to run a round.

What you are actually buying

Whatever the price, be clear about what the money buys: minutes of transcription and AI answers grounded in your resume, job description and notes, plus in MockMate's case a Practice report that shows response timing, recurring weaknesses and a recommended next practice. It does not buy permission. MockMate's Acceptable Use Policy is explicit: use Live assistance only where the organisation, interviewer or applicable rules permit assistance and disclosure; use Practice when permission is unclear. For proctored assessments on Talview, HackerEarth or Mettl, that means Practice before and nothing during; see our proctoring explainer.

Bottom line

For a typical Indian job hunt of around six interviews over six weeks, prepaid credits in rupees cost less than most USD subscriptions and leave nothing to cancel: roughly ₹5,900 to ₹8,260 on MockMate including GST, versus about ₹6,700 to ₹13,400 for two months of the USD subscriptions that publish a price, and ₹18,940 for two months of Parakeet's INR subscription. Subscriptions win only when you use them for several hours every month. Start with the free starts, run one real Practice round, and only then decide whether you need live minutes at all. Frequently asked questions

How much does MockMate cost per interview?

As of September 2026, credits cost ₹2,000 for 2 (Starter), ₹5,000 for 5 (Growth) or ₹10,000 for 12 (Pro), plus 18% GST. One credit is about 60 minutes, billed in 30-minute blocks of 0.5 credit with a 10-minute grace window. A 45-minute round therefore costs 1 credit; a 35-minute round costs 0.5 credit. On the Starter pack that is ₹1,180 per hour including GST; on Pro it is about ₹983 per hour including GST.

Is a subscription cheaper than credits?

Only if you use it a lot. A flat monthly plan costs the same whether you do two interviews or twenty. Credits cost only for minutes used. For a typical Indian job hunt of around six interviews in a month or two, credits are usually cheaper; for months of daily practice and interviews, a subscription can win.

Do I pay GST on top?

MockMate's INR prices carry 18% GST, so Starter comes to ₹2,360, Growth to ₹5,900 and Pro to ₹11,800. USD subscriptions from foreign vendors are charged in dollars; your bank's conversion rate and any foreign-transaction fee are extra, and those vendors' pages do not state Indian tax treatment.

Can I try before buying?

MockMate gives eligible accounts 3 Practice starts and 3 Live starts of 10 minutes each, tracked per account. Verve gives 3 live sessions of 15 minutes. interviews.chat gives 30 credits. Parakeet gives a 10-minute session. Final Round AI has no free trial for live sessions. Interview Sidekick allows a 2-minute test.

Does paying make it OK to use in any interview?

No. Paying buys minutes, not permission. MockMate's policy is to use Live assistance only where the organisation, interviewer or applicable rules permit it, and Practice when permission is unclear.
