NLTH (Wipro Elite National Talent Hunt): Meaning, Test Pattern and Rounds

NLTH means Wipro's National Level Talent Hunt, now Elite NTH: the fresher test with aptitude, essay and coding, eligibility, and the interviews that follow.

Updated 3 min read

NLTH stands for National Level Talent Hunt, Wipro's national online test for hiring engineering freshers, run under the "Elite" brand and now usually called Wipro Elite NTH (National Talent Hunt). It is Wipro's equivalent of the TCS NQT and Cognizant's GenC assessment: a proctored online test that filters lakhs of applicants down to the ones who get a technical and HR interview.

Who is eligible, as of September 2026

Placement-prep sites list the following for the 2026 cycle; confirm on Wipro's careers page for your batch:

  • BE, B.Tech, ME or M.Tech from any branch.
  • A minimum of 60 percent or equivalent in Class 10 and Class 12, with the same rule commonly applied to graduation.
  • No active backlogs at the time of the test. Cleared backlogs are generally acceptable.
  • A gap limit and a batch restriction (current-year and previous-year graduates) apply in most cycles.

Test pattern

The full Elite format has three sections:

SectionWhat it coversTime (reported)
AptitudeQuantitative, logical reasoning, verbal abilityabout 60 min
Written communicationOne essay on a given topicabout 20 min
CodingTwo programming problems in a supported languageabout 60 min

Total time is reported at around two hours twenty minutes for the three-section format. Some drives run a shorter version with aptitude and essay only, about 60 minutes. The test is delivered on an AMCAT-style proctored platform, with no negative marking and no moving back into a closed section. See proctoring for what the platform monitors.

What comes after

Qualifying the online test leads to two more rounds: a technical interview (data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, DBMS, operating systems, your project and your chosen language) and an HR interview (relocation, shifts, service agreement, expected CTC). Many drives merge them into one 30-minute conversation. See TR round and HR round.

A concrete example

A 2026 ECE graduate registers for Elite NTH through his college. On test day he finishes the aptitude section comfortably, writes a coherent 200-word essay on remote work, and solves one of the two coding problems fully and the second partially. He is shortlisted. His interview is 25 minutes: explain your project, what is a linked list, write a program to check for a palindrome, difference between process and thread, are you willing to relocate to Pune or Hyderabad, and are you aware of the service agreement. He receives an offer as a Project Engineer. His batchmate with stronger coding but a messy essay did not make the shortlist, because the essay is a scored section, not a formality.

How to prepare

  • Time yourself on aptitude sets; the quant and logical questions are standard but the clock is tight.
  • Write five practice essays of 200 to 250 words on general topics (technology, work, education) with clean paragraphs.
  • For coding, pick one language, practise arrays, strings and simple maths problems, and read problems carefully before typing.
  • Prepare your project explanation and the core-subject basics for the interview before the result comes.

A MockMate Practice session in the browser runs an adaptive technical or HR round from your resume and the Wipro job description, with a code editor for the technical part and a report that shows question-level coaching and your response timing. Use Practice for preparation; use MockMate's Live assistance only where the organisation, interviewer or applicable rules permit assistance and disclosure. The NLTH test itself is a proctored assessment, so Practice is the right mode for it.

  • NQT: TCS's national test, the one most candidates take alongside NLTH.
  • GenC: Cognizant's campus programme and tracks.
  • Aptitude test: the first section of every one of these tests.
  • Wipro interview questions: the question bank for the rounds after NLTH.

Frequently asked questions

What is the full form of NLTH?

National Level Talent Hunt. Wipro's fresher programme has been branded Elite NLTH and, more recently, Elite NTH (National Talent Hunt). Placement sites use both names for the same drive.

Is there negative marking in the Wipro NLTH test?

No, as reported for the 2026 cycle. There is also no navigation between sections once a section is closed, so manage each section's time on its own.

What happens after the NLTH online test?

Shortlisted candidates go to a technical interview covering data structures, OOP, DBMS and operating systems, and then an HR interview. Some drives merge the two into one conversation.
