English Interview Practice Online: Mock Interviews for Hindi-Medium Candidates

If you studied in Hindi medium and your interview is in English, you already know the problem is not vocabulary. You understand the question. You know the answer. The trouble is the four seconds between the two, when you translate the answer in your head, lose the first sentence, and start with "basically, actually, I am from...". Reading English answers does not fix that. Speaking them, being asked a follow-up, and speaking again does.

What the interviewer actually asks, with Hinglish notes

1. "Tell me about yourself." Strong answer: name, degree and college, one project or job, one skill, why this role; sixty seconds. Hinglish note: family background, gaon, hobbies list mat do. Naam, degree, ek project, ek skill, aur yeh role kyun, bas. See how to answer tell me about yourself.
2. "Why do you want this job?" Strong answer: one specific thing about the company and one thing you want to learn. Hinglish note: "growth" aur "good company" generic hai; ek concrete cheez bolo jo company karti hai.
3. "What are your strengths?" Strong answer: two strengths, each with a one-line example. Hinglish note: "hardworking" bolne se pehle ek example ready rakho, warna follow-up mein phas jaoge.
4. "What is your weakness?" Strong answer: one real weakness and what you are doing about it. Hinglish note: "English thodi weak hai, isliye roz practice kar raha hoon" ek honest aur acceptable answer hai.
5. "Tell me about your project" or "your last job." Strong answer: the problem, your part, the result, in under two minutes. Hinglish note: pehle Hinglish mein bolo, phir wahi baat English mein; content same rehna chahiye.
6. "Why should we hire you?" Strong answer: two or three matches between the role and your evidence. Hinglish note: "main mehnat karunga" evidence nahi hai; project ya internship ka result evidence hai.
7. "Are you comfortable speaking with customers in English?" Strong answer: yes, with one example of when you did, and the honest note that you are improving. Hinglish note: yeh question BPO aur support roles mein zaroor aata hai; "yes" ke saath ek example do.
8. "Where do you see yourself in five years?" Strong answer: growth in this role and domain, consistent with your higher-studies answer. Hinglish note: "manager banna hai" se better hai "is role mein expert banna hai, phir team lead".
9. "Describe a situation where you solved a problem." Strong answer: a STAR story in four short sentences. Hinglish note: Situation, Task, Action, Result; har ek ke liye ek line. Lambi kahani mat sunao.
10. "Do you have any questions for us?" Strong answer: two prepared questions about training or the team. Hinglish note: "no sir" mat bolo; do questions pehle se likh ke rakho.

Common mistakes in English interviews, and what interviewers actually judge

Interviewers are not grading your accent. They are checking whether they can follow you. The mistakes that make them lose the thread:

• Translating in your head. The pause is the problem, not the grammar. Short sentences that start immediately beat long correct ones that start after five seconds.
• Filler openers. "Basically", "actually", "myself Rahul" and "I am belonging to" mark every sentence. Drop them.
• Over-formal words. "I am doing my graduation from" is fine; "I have completed my graduation" is fine; "I am pursuing my B.Tech" is fine. Do not reach for words you would not use in Hinglish.
• Answers that never end. Say the answer, add one example, stop. Silence after a complete answer is fine.
• Not asking to repeat. "Could you repeat the question?" is a normal English sentence, not a failure.

What the report tells you

• Response timing is the key number for Hindi-medium candidates: how long before you started each answer. If it is four seconds in Hinglish and twelve in English, you are translating; the fix is practising the English version of the same answer until it starts in four.
• Question-level answers with coaching on what a stronger answer would have contained, so you can separate "my content was thin" from "my English was slow".
• Coaching evidence: the phrases behind each note.
• Recurring weaknesses: for example "answers end without a conclusion" or "no example given after a claim".
• A recommended next practice: usually the same round again in English.

Honest limits
